Luftwaffe Afrikakorps Commemorative Ring Grouping

A most unusual small grouping to a Luftwaffe pilot who suffered a major injury when he was

wounded in action and lost his right eye. In the photo showing him after his

injury was treated, he can be seen to be wearing a commemorative ring. The

ring is a hand made piece most probably produced by a local Arab jeweller.

It shows a gilt rider on a camel on the square face of the ring, with gilt camels

and palm trees on the side of the shank.

Also included is the actual glass eye he wore after his injury, in its original case

An Italian Bravery Medal awarded to a Luftwaffe Pilot

A nice example of this Bravery Medal in Silver, contained in its original award

case by Cravanzola of Rome. The medal has the recipients name engraved in

the centre, indicating the award was to Major Helmut Herling, who was

killed in action on 16 January 1943

A silver cigarette case gifted to a senior Luftwaffe Officer

A fine quality cigarette case, hallmarked silver on the interior face, which was presented to a Luftwaffe Oberst serving on the eastern front in 1942.

The face is expertly engraved as follows

Walter Hagen was awarded the Knight's Cross on 21 June 1940 and the Oakleaves on 17 February 1942. He ended the war with the rank of Generalmajor

Generaloberst Keller was also a Knight's Cross winner in addition to holding the Blue Max (Pour le Merite) from World War One.

Also included is a hand embroidered officer quality pilots badge which was contained in the case.
