Spanish Cross in Gold grouping to H. Wörz.

Price 3200€ .

Wörz, an NCO in the Luftwaffe was an HE-111 radio operator / airgunner crewmember in the 2nd Staffel of the famous Kampfgruppe 88. During the war in Spain Wörz qualified for the German radio operator airgunner badge (26.7.1938). For his bravery and achievements during this war Wörz was awarded the "Cruz de Guerra" and the 'Medalla de la campana" in Spain, but even more he was one of the very few people who was awarded the elusive Spanish cross in Gold in Berlin on 6 June 1939!

After the Spanish Civil War Wörz was also qualified as a pilot in Kampfgeschwader 76 (KG76). It was there where he received the 1st October annexation medal and later the Pilot Badge in 1940. In 1942 Wörz served as an Oberfeldwebel in a home defence unit, probably flak . He received the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords on 30.1.1942. This document is signed by General Leutnant Karl Alfred Haubold, commander of the Luftgau III.

In the grouping as well as all the award documents from Wörz there are included 3 original photographs. The group also comes with Wörz's complete flight book from Kampfgruppe 88 (K88). Plenty of famous Spanish cities that were bombed to pieces are written in the book: Caspe, Cartagena, Artana, Castellon.

The flight book shows 104 frontflüge of which 57 experiencing heavy ressistance in the air by either flak, enemy planes or other ground fire. These reports were hand signed in the flugbuch by Oberleutnant Rolf Schröter and Hauptmann Karl Wolfien.
The Gold Cross with Swords was restricted to those who not only engaged the enemy, but had also excelled in the form of personal bravery or achievement. There were 1,126 individuals who received this grade.
A unique opportunity to own a complete grouping of a Condor "Spanish cross in gold" winner.
